Stephen had a mouth on him
Stephen is the first-ever martyr, stoned to death in AD 34 after he called an assembly of rabbis “stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears.” Nothing I write can top that.
(Fun fact, though: the above etching is a Rembrandt, and incidentally, the first painting he ever signed, at the age of 19, was also of Stephen. It’s shown below. The face by the stoner’s armpit and directly above Stephen’s head is said to be Rembrandt himself. Personally, I prefer the etching.)
