Nicholas resurrected pickled boys
[270-343]
Nicholas — who shouted "Glory to God!" the moment he was born — was a jolly old man by the time an even stranger miracle occurred.
Outside the town of Myra, in present-day Turkey, three boys worked late into the evening harvesting grain. So late, they couldn't make it home for the night, so they sought lodging at the lonely cottage of the town butcher. With a sharp knife, the butcher cut up the children and put their bodies in a salting tub.
Seven years passed. Nicholas happened to be walking when he was seized by hunger and knocked on the door of that very same butcher. "Would you like a slice of this, or a slice of that?" the butcher asked, and Nicholas said, "No, give me a little bit of that seven-year ham aging in brine."
The butcher panicked, and Nicholas told him that if he repented, God would pardon him. He did, so Nicholas cracked open the salting tub and out popped three little heads. "I sweetly rest!" shouted the first. "I took am blest!" added the second, and then the third: "Tis well with me, in Paradise I seem to be."
